This is a walkthrough of the Zappn experience Brock finished a few months ago. It was originally intended to present to developers and investors to get a complete picture of the ideas we have in store for Zappn 2.0. But what the hell, let’s let everyone have a peek into the crystal ball. We received some great feedback over those last few months and we continue to simply and focus the vision for Zappn 2.0. We received a frantic text a few weeks ago from a friend of ours who was watching CSI. She was convinced the detectives in the episode were essentially using Zappn to get a better idea of what went on at a particular concert. And she was right! The show does a great job of explaining some of our favorite features. Check it out…

One of our most requested features for zappn is site wide search.

To use search on zappn, all you need to do is type in a search term into the search box that says “search for anything”.

For example:

• Tpye a friends name to find their profile on zappn
• Type in a zip code to see the events in that zip code
• Search for a state

Our search results are divided in different sections to help you navigate through the findings.  Search will look through zappn user profile data, as well as event descriptions.

We are working on refining search over the next few weeks, by adding parameters to make search even better!  Please check out our support, help, and suggestion center HERE.

Starting August 13, the zappn team will be putting on bi-weekly meetups which will give us a chance to meet and talk with the people who make zappn what it is – you! This will be an awesome opportunity to explore cool places around Kansas City.

We have a fresh round of feature updates and site fixes for you.  Be on the lookout for some huge feature updates in the next few weeks.  Zappn has loved getting all the great feedback, and are very excited to show you all of the amazing stuff we have been working on very soon.

• zappn.com/meetup is now Live!
• Users can now comment on Photos
• When users create a new account, they will auto-follow Brock and Chase in order to discover new users.
• You can now click on an “events” button under a users profile picture, to see all of their event activity.

We have installed a speed tracking bot to fix the speed issues on the site

So you might be saying to yourself, “zappn hasnt announced new features in awhile.” You’re right (kind of)…

Right now we’re throwing everything we have at the iPhone app that we have been developing for almost 3 months now, and we are very close. The iPhone app is integral to our growth and development plans for the long-term.  We think there is no question that it is the “game changer” for zappn, and not just for the people who have iPhones. The introduction of the iPhone app will generate a massive amount of new content being uploaded, live, which is great for all users (and non-users).

That being said, we still have steadily been making updates to the site. And we hit our 500th user! There have been over 1000 pictures already uploaded and there are almost 300 events listed – not bad for a site that has been around for 2 months.

Now we would like to hear from you. We have received loads of great emails from people who found bugs and requested feature additions. Because of your help, we have 70 tickets in our development database that will be tackled and implemented in the next few weeks. What we need now is your opinion as a whole on how the site is as a service. How has it benefitted you? What can we do better? What are your reservations? How often do you use it and why? Maybe you haven’t used it at all, why not? These are just a few questions you can help us answer. Be open, be honest, we want to hear it all.

We have been working hard to get a new round of Zappn updates up and running. Here are some of the items we have completed this week!

• My Invites Tab – This tab will let you see the current events that you have been invited to
• In the “Events” tab, a notifier symbol will appear if someone you are following, is attending or maybe attending that event
• View attendees is now sorted alphabetically
• Names are now linked to the person that took the photo, when you are looking at a photo in expanded view
• When you are clicking through photos from an event, the web browser stays in the same spot, so you don’t have to scroll down the page

It has been almost 3 weeks since we have launched the site.  We are working really hard to get all of the amazing features that we have on our list in place ASAP.  Below is a list of our favorite and most important features and fixes that have been rolled out over the past 3 weeks.

• Twitter integration in Account Settings
• “What’s up” status and Event Attendance Status Push to twitter
• When you invite someone to an event they get an email invite.
• New zappn Support site through tenderapp.com
• Privacy Policy is now in place
• AJAX follow status, so page does not “reload”
• Dates and Times have been fixed
• Events are now sorted by the most recent – furthest out, within 50 miles of your location
• Formatting of pages has been fixes
• Visitors without zappn accounts can now see public events
• Retrieve lost passwords
• Attend is now “attending” once you have taken action
• Sign-in or sign-up will no longer autocapitalize your email address
• Event attendees are now formatted properly and cover multiple pages
• You can now advance to the next and previous photos in large photo view
• Select all and Deselct All when inviting friends to an event
• Your available friends to invite when you create an event are now formatted correctly
• You can now see older comments from an event
• Event’s photo index section is formatted properly
• Your past events can now be seen in “my events”
• Your profile feed will only include things that you have done, not all of your friends, to see friends actions you can visit your feed by clicking the zappn logo in the top left hand corner, think of this as “home base”
• You can now invite people to attend your events!
• zappn will now feature a new event each week, this week’s featured event will be announced in association with our new partnerships, stay tuned!
